(GOLDEN VALLEY, MINN) – TakeCharge Minnesota announced today that Kendall Qualls has resumed his role as president of the Minnesota-based non-profit. TakeCharge Minnesota’s board of directors formally requested Qualls return to his leadership position after he stepped down to seek the Minnesota Republican Party nomination for Governor.
“I am pleased to announce that Kendall Qualls will return to TakeCharge as President effective June 6, 2022,” said Alfrieda Baldwin, Chairperson of the TakeCharge Minnesota board of directors. “The Board of Directors were unanimous in our decision to ask Mr. Qualls to return, and he accepted with a minimum two-year commitment, if not longer to the organization.”
“Strengthening faith, family and education is more paramount than ever before in the black community and our broader society,” said Kendall Qualls, President of TakeCharge Minnesota. “The problems we read about in the news—car jackings, academic disparities and mass shootings—are merely symptoms of the deterioration of all three institutions. I am excited to continue to be able to bring people, ideas, and resources together through TakeCharge’s mission and the work we do.”
Sheila Qualls assumed the role of Executive Director earlier this year when Kendall stepped down as president to seek the Republican nomination for governor. After a narrow loss, the board asked Mr. Qualls to resume his role.
“Sheila Qualls has done an excellent job at TakeCharge,” Baldwin said. “She will remain at TakeCharge as Executive Director, but she will adjust to a part-time role so she can devote more time to her family.”
“The pillars of a strong society are faith, family, and education are deliberately and systematically under attack in the United States,” said Sheila Qualls. “I look forward to working alongside Kendall in our mission to improve the state of Minnesota and the rest of our country.”
“I am a Victor,” the new TakeCharge documentary
TakeCharge is releasing “I am a Victor,” a new documentary that challenges an idea believed by some that America is structured to undermine and limit the lives of black Americans. Instead, black people in the movie share their own person stories and how their own personal decisions, experiences, hard work, and vision have helped them find success. They hope their own stories should be an example for others looking for hope and inspiration.
“Our first priority is the successful launch of I AM A VICTOR, our first documentary to be released in mid-July. The documentary has been accepted at two film festivals this summer, one in NYC and another in Las Vegas,” Qualls said.

Thank you for all the good work you are doing. We met you last October at the Hubbard County Republican fundraiser You talked about getting a unified statement of Republican beliefs and values.? How are you handling the abortion issue? Personally, I guess I would not be considered ‘pro-life” based on the fact that I do believe abortion is necessary in extreme cases. Unless medically needed, abortion to birth is criminal. It sounds like the Democrats are looking for a constitutional amendment. We feel the Republican party right now is very lost with their messaging. No candidates running for 2 open seats? I know it seems that a lot of people are really upset with this current administration and all the damage they have done to our once beautiful state but like 2020 , I wouldn’t count on a big red wave. Please give us your thoughts on what is happening with our party.
Thank you!
